Yes, you read it right. According to official sources, SRK’s most awaited film of 2016 Raees will not be releasing this year. This confirmation came from the SRK himself, along with the producers of the film. Earlier there were reports of Sultan andRaees clashing at the box office this Eid, but now Raees is slated to release on 26th January 2017.
Considering the fact that Fan did not exactly set box office afire, looks like the makers of Raees want to leave no stone unturned to ensure a grand, record-breaking opening to the film. Also, with the latter half of 2016 being booked by superstars like Salman, Aamir, Akshay and Ajay, it seems King Khan is well aware of the competition, and wants to play it safe. In a joint statement issued by producers Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani and Shah Rukh Khan, the trio said, ''It was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that this film is highly anticipated. However, a movie of such magnitude requires the appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26 January 2017.”
It is well known that box office and net earnings play a huge role in the success of the movie. The recent disappointment ofFan at the box office was not a good news for the makers, despite SRK being critically applauded for his performance. The postponing of Raees' release is certainly disheartening for all the Shah Rukh fans who were expecting to see their superstar one more time this year. But better be late than sorry, right?
