From the floral pink lehenga of her mehendi paired with exquisite flower jewellery to the blazing red bridal wear, Bipasha turned heads as she exchanged vows with boyfriend Karan Singh Grover amid a star-studded gathering. Days after the grand ceremony, her bridal look continues to generate interest as columns after columns are being written on how to replicate Bipasha's bridal look. Masala.com caught up with her stylist Shyamli Arora to find out what went behind the scenes.
1) Bipasha's wedding attire was traditional Bengali, but the reception and mehendi outfit had a more contemporary touch. What was the thought behind styling?
Bipasha was very clear that her nuptials would be completely traditional in terms of the rituals, the date and time (mahurat, so to speak) and, of course, the clothes and colours. She has known Sabyasachi from her modelling days and choosing him to design the outfit for her special day was a given. Besides the fact that he is the best in the country for traditional bridal wear, he also understands the nuances of a quintessential Bengali wedding.

The result was a gorgeous gold zardozi-embroidered lehenga in her favourite shade of red. The jewellery was picked to match the outfit from Kishanchand Jewellers, who are based out of Hyderabad but retail at the Sabyasachi store in Mumbai. The nathand maang patti are my particular favourites as they enhanced her exquisite Indian features. Juttichoo, a footwear brand from Delhi, customised her jewelled gold footwear to complete the look.
As for the groom, we went for a silk dhoti and silk kurta but gave him a quirky short bandhgala to go with it. Jaipur Jewels of Mumbai worked with me to create a jadau polki brooch strung with pearls and blue sapphires to embellish his dapper ivory ensemble.
2) Bipasha’s mehendi look was radically different though.
The wedding celebrations started with the mehendi and sangeet. Since it was a day function, the guest list was private and small and the idea was to dance the day away. We chose a blush pink floral lehenga for the occasion. Anushree Reddy designed the lehenga keeping in mind the bride's favourite shade of pink and vintage gold. The theme of the party was ‘gulabi’, and the light floral lehenga looked perfect for the occasion. We chose a satlada pearl and rubies necklace and jadau jhumar earrings from Jaipur Jewels to add to the look. Ceremonial hues made her pretty floral tiara and haathphool and Princess K customised a vintage floral clutch and voila, walked in the perfect bride to be. For Karan, I picked an ensemble from one of his favourite Indian designer Antar Agni. A comfortable yet spunky kurta with churidaars.

3) Both Bipasha and Karan bring their own personal style to what they wear. Who did you enjoy styling more?
I’ve known Bipasha for six years now and have been working on her looks since then. It’s safe to say I understand her style, her choices and her emphasis on comfort pretty well by now. The best thing about her is that unlike a lot of other celebrity clients and brides, she has the clarity of mind. Once she is convinced of the brief, she doesn't change her mind. That's half your battle won right there. I’ve been styling Karan since Alone. He is very confident and comfortable with his persona and body. He is a classic minimalistic dresser but always adds his own quirk. They both have perfect 10 bodies and that makes a stylist's job a lot easier. More-Info
